I've always had the same problem, no clue why this happens tbh. This is mainly the reason I've always hated OGL, it runs better than d3d8/9 but due to the brightness I can't really use it. :<

Ok, I recently tried OpeGL as a renderer, and it runs way smoother than D3d and I have less HOM effects. I first wasn't able to set my brightness (becaues of a bug in the ATI OpenGL driver, that's why so many people have problems), but now I can because of the command above here. But it is pretty annoying to press a certain button everytime you start up UT and then manualy re-set the brightness. Is there way it runs the command automatically on start-up or is there another solution for this problem?

Roel:
I have a program which i use for UT to help with OpenGL.
Its called "GammaSutra" basically, it britens your screen, inside an outside of UT. So you put it on bright before loading UT and you have a bright UT!

Ok I now have this command binded to a key and it works perfectly. It's way faster than the command of changing the resolution and the brightness is correct immediatly:
setres 1680x1050x16 | setres 1680x1050x32 | Brightness | Brightness | Brightness | Brightness | Brightness | Brightness | Brightness | Brightness | Brightness | Brightness
(that is 10x 'brightness', so it is back to it's starting value')
For the 1680x1050 you have to fill in you own res, if you want to use it.

Woah! this thread contains some seriously obsolete info, and should not be used for reference with the current renderers.
Many of those settings are no longer valid or available.
The direct links in the OP, are just making people DL the old renderers.
It should only be a link to the page.
Those renderers are "End of Life" as of several years ago.
If you want the current renderers, you get them from Oldunreal with the new audio renderers.
Admin please un-sticky this and let it die, or make it valid for 2014.
I will post more in-depth info in a separate thread.

How can it not contain obsolete info? It's 8 years old. So surely there's newer stuff and newer tweaks. Fact is that this still works with any new PC. PLayign with an i5 quad core bought in 2013. UT doesn't run on it. When I use that opengl and settings everythign smooths out, runs perfectly fine without lag or anything else. So it's still useable. Not saying everyone SHOUL use this. But if you're lazy and get back for a few games it's easy to download and poof, you're good to game in the fastest way possible without tweaking for hours.
