Hi there.

Who does not like to have your own server when for example we have a connection that sometimes we could not improve our results have the high ping, etc etc, this topic is open for them to say which is the best operating system which run dedicates server. In my point of view I always went to linux now the question is what Linux is the most topping. I give some examples for those who understand something of creation of dedicated servers.

Including what will be the most stable linux dedicated server:

- FreeBSD
- CentOS
- Debian 6.0.6 amd64
- Ubuntu 12.10 (i386)

The best and most stable servers for UT99 will be Windows Server 2008 64 bit.
But if you want the best Linux version it's Debian.
I've had hundreds of different servers , OS's etc.
The best by far is Windows. Though it will cost you money.
Also depends on your server hardware , CPU , RAM , Internet Connection , mostly upload speed is key.
And for a good running server you need to setup the correct patches , and edit the UT.ini correctly , there is so much people don't know when it comes to creating servers. Lots of stuff I no is private information that tweaks the server even more. Runs smooth etc. If you need any help tho just shoot me a PM on here.

Explanation..

1 - get Fedora 25 Server without desktop -> https://getfedora.org/pt/server/download/

2 - Download Latest version of VirtualBox and run Fedora 25 Server ISO on VirtualBox

3 - Setting in VirtualBox set Network to Bridge

4 - Locate DVD fedora and add it to Virtual disk to run first boot

5 - Create root password and create account when Fedora is installing under VirtualBox Machine

6 - Change Network to Static or running Manual and config your IP, MASK, GATEWAY and DNS and than save

7 - Open ports on router for Unreal Tournament 99 chek on google wich ports you must foward according with IP virtualbox you changed

8 - After Fedora installed reboot than close VirtualBOx, open VirtualBox again and remove DVD media from Virtual Disk

9 - Let run Fedora and login your account. After write in terminal -> su -
and then write your root passw

10 - Go Daniel Gibbs site and scroll down till you see Fedora and click there and it will appear what you need to do only for version 64 bit:

-> https://gameservermanagers.com/lgsm/ut99server/
scroll down the link and choose Fedora on Dependencies

than you will see this...

- in terminal do this -> dnf install mailx postfix curl wget file bzip2 gzip unzip python tmux glibc.i686 libstdc++ libstdc++.i686

- after write in terminal as a root ofc -> dnf install SDL.i686

- after u need Guest additions see on this like how to do -> https://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2010/install-virtualbox-guest-additions-on-fedora-centos-red-hat-rhel/

- reboot after upgrade kernel and also have installed Guest additions reboot.
so all its done now to download the Script to install ut server

- login again after reboot as your account chose for example your account name ut99server when Fedora is installing i forgot to say

- download script writing -> wget https://gameservermanagers.com/dl/ut99server

- after type -> chmod +x ut99server

- than -> ./ut99server install
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And voila its done when the server is installed you need open in host outside VirtualBox in windows your ip and port is 8076 like this an example but port its defined in ut.ini file of server but ip its your ip the port you can always change from 8076 to other.. ex: 192.168.1.20:8076
and it will open Web Admin for you change maps and so

You can add files on utserver using WinSCP cause Fedora has no desktop you can manage well with WinSCP drag files for your server you need to run your server mode

Before you run server you must disable Firewalld on Fedora as a root type on terminal -> su - than your passowrd you choose when you created root password under Fedora installation

To disable firewalld only need do this writing on terminal as root -> systemctl disable firewalld or stop -> systemctl stop firewalld

Now terminal its in root to quit for your user account you must type -> exit

To run server type -> ./ut99server start and for stop ./ut99server stop

And you will see how it looks like your great virtualization server with textures and best playable Wink

Thank you
