Right...here goes..
I sometimes feel a bit miffed about how scores are added on here.
I mean we play CTF....and maybe u cap 8 flags and your score is shite.
But u camp and kill flag killers and your score ups a lot.Why....?

OK for DM, but waht about us poor flag carriers. CTF remember. Rolling Eyes

Feel sometimes that u may just as well play along with all the ass runners, and flag killers...if we all did that we would just be playing DM. Mad

Rant over ...what u think?

in the end caps matters Smile

i play long enough to see the difference between real team players and lamers who plays for point only. And imo team players with low scores gains more respect as useless players who plays for points only

well, this is something we can talk and can argue about for a long time. I too can see the difference between the players who want to cap and those who play for points only.
(i wouldnt name anyone cuz it can casue trouble).

i know that i sometimes defend and i understand that when i hit the same player 5 times in a row when he just took the flag he's pissed. i'm too, when i'm killed several times in a row by the same player. I prefer to cap bcs it gives you kind of an adrenaline. running with the flag while most of the other team is behind you Razz

But first you have to make a difference between camping and defending (which is difficult to explain).

like i said, this can be a long discussion.

when someome is defending its quite clear to me he s defending. Defending can be frustrated idd (massdef) but its part of the game.

I play this game for 5 years now and it always been the same and imo will never change. There always be players playing as a 1 man army and players who take care of the team.

On The i4g server tho, we have the cap count so that will show whos best really...

i know the enemy cant touch flag. i'm more an attacker, so i know it's frustrating. But when you are trying to hit him and once he is at flag you still trying to hit him, but it's easier to hit bcs you can take the flag as reference.

I was thinking about making an alternative scoring method (like in SmartCTF) to cool down the points-whore a bit.

I'll check for the pros and cons before applying such a system though.

2. Defending is done out in the open, not waiting while some1 passes you while your hiding and then shootin em in the back (camping, assrunning etc).
3. I defend because i suck at infiltrating, i'm not that nimble with my fingers (which is just a defect) therefore i defend primarily, cause my aim is still fine (at least when i play regularly enough)
4. CTF is a team efford, so giving more points to FC's is fine with me, but giving less to defenders is not fair imho.

I don't play for points, i play CTF because i like the game, being part of a team, rather than blowing heads off.

But i must say.. i tried camping on two maps last month.
It was abreeze, and i think the other was eternal blue.
Now i thought i'd see if my score improved for camping or flag carrier killing, AND BOY DID IT ...i got probably at least double my normal score. maybe even treble on Abreeze.

I find that people who defend flag camp backshooters whatever you call them are often good players and i wonder sometimes why they actuall do it.

Saying all this why should a flag camper be rewarded with better points than someone who maybe isn't that good at capturing flags....myself included, but constantly strives to help thier team win the game ?....if they think it's fun or not. Wink

doesnt matter what will be done,imo,cos in the end,the defenders will always take the crap. So much talk, and still,so much whining going on in the game,even from players that i count as regulars.

Like EzWz said,i rather defend,gotta be something worldwide,this physical defect..infects my BT playing aswell,i cant side dodge to the left cos of my left index finger wont let me Confused

But back to the discussion. Points,campers,assers etc..we have all been noobs in the beginning,and since we have a lot of new players on our servers lately, i believe some people tend to forget how they where themselves. I know i assed,camped,flamed and so on..it is a game,u get hotheaded,we all do, but MAN,its a game! As long as you ,yourself,try to play as fair as you can, i don't see why you should get so upset about the small things (that really indeed arent that small,thinking about it). We have the admins,who do a bloody good job, the trustees (me included,i am SOO good!)the channels on irc,(including the i4g.admins one where u can get help..how many of you have done that?)

Oh,and if you get really upset whilst playing,why don't you quit for the time being and do something else while you cool down? Go back to your life for a change,go outside,spring is here!,talk to your family..etc. Nah,seriously,this is a game.Relax.Enjoy.

There will always be certain people out there who will take the fun out of the game,just as there is people out there who sometimes take the fun out of life. Deal with it.Live with it.

And now,i think im gonna go outside,sun is shining and the kids are laughing. What else can be better?
