First impressions on the Unreal Tournament 3 Demo

ok i played it and its pretty fun, but its definately more like ut2k4 than ut99, it feels futuristic and limited imo in the way you can move, or perhaps im just far too used to ut99 physics.

as for slant dodges, i looked around and could only find a few, and those i found i couldnt use. On that dark city map theres a railing slanted, which when you try you jus bump into it, if you could show us where the slant dodge is would be cool.

I could even find a setting for walk, only crouch, which works alike and you cant fall off edges.

The reason you just bump off it is the map build is pretty different than UT obviously this will not be a factor in custom BT maps.

Graphics looks the same as 2k4. Moving of the bots also. And imo the bots are looking to small and fat Smile

The gameplay feels abit slower as 2k4 which is good imo. At least the game get rid off the 'stupid' dodge-jump combination, tho the double jump is still there. Dunno about the wall-jump, havent check that but i hope it will be gone too as not beeing a fan of it.

Insta not part of the demo, so w'll have to wait and see if it works out. Because the games feels and sees more close to 2k4 i got my doubts about the clanscene will be as active as UT ever was Smile

btw ive seen screenshot on the net which showing the fps info. Anyone knows how to get that? I don't got a l33t machine but still must be enough to run ut3 properly. Now it feels like the game is running with 20 fps or smt. Too bad the demo isnt OpenGL supported.

Overall conclusion. Not that exited about i would run the shop and buy it. Too bad instagib isnt part of it, never been a nw player so i wont get hooked to that part of the game.

I feel the small community that plays ut99 will not die as long as people like i4games keeps going.

This debate always arises when a new ut comes out, the problem is that they never exceed ut99

All you needed do to was change the skins, change the maps, change a couple of weapons and some new insta mods and ut99 could of been transformed into a more popular game with servers packed out with the same engine

don't take a genuis,

Its not all about graphics but gameplay and saving people upgrading all the time when they cant afford to and cant be assed:)

Its not 2k4 ffs its totaly new engine visually pretty different and some very interesting tech. New things always take getting used to, so what if its not UT with better maps weapons skins or maps its a awesome game stand alone. you cant really compare the two no more than you can compare 2 cars (old and new) yeah they do virtually the same thing but there are huge differences.
Changing just minor factors does not bring things forward it would not bring in 100's of 1000's of new players bring in a huge ammount of revenue to fuel more great games. UT will surely get smaller people leave slowly thats how it happens all good things come to an end nothing lasts for ever.

Thats my opinion. Any way i know classic games always have a place in peoples hearts as does UT in my own, great game lots of memories but the way forward for me has been paved...

definately worth playing. imma owertweak it tho cuz there's too much noises added. but looks good, plays good and it's fun. so im gonna give it a shot for a while

There is an i4Games DM Demo server available. You'll have to go thru the UT3 browser to connect - there is no other way.
It's called i4g_ut3_demo: [i4Games.eu] Demo (yeah, weird name, I know).

I don't know what to say coz i didnt play ut3 yet..
but i know and i think ut99 will be forever my best multiplayer online game! i changed a few online games but i alweys came back to ut99 Wink

i don't know why, maybe coz was my first online game, boo...i don't know..i just like it Wink

For me ut99 brought me a lot of fun in 2.5 years of playing it online Rolling Eyes
