Hello!
I'm new to this community and I always wanted to make my own maps since I played UT for the first time.
So I tought we, in this topic could share what we like about BT maps.
What I like much is keymaps (BT+) and I don't like so much difficult maps (like many maps here are), however I like maps that raise in difficult (have a easy start and getting harder and harder)
I think my favourite mapa right now are:
BT-Benign-v1
BT+Cobra
BT+D!@blo
...and some other easy maps
What do you like about maps and what is your favourite maps?

I like realistic maps, with realistic i don't mean like 'plausible in the real world' ofcourse because almost nothing in BT is plausible IRL. At least I have never seen a real human dodge
I like maps without floating blocks, stuff that would be kind of possible to build and looks nice. I like maps by NuLL, roel, CN, Knight, Krool and guys like that..
Those maps just look and feel right to me..

I love long; vast, open space, lots of running, adventurous, well built with lots of secrets (easter eggs) kind of maps.

I like short maps, from fun rush maps, to tricky technical short maps. Also it's a bonus to have new inventive obstacles or just certain unique combinations.
An example would be NLRM for its bounces, turn shoot, air control. So while that section is FUN and original, it's also quite rewarding, because with practise the difficulty involved lessens. It's like a skill section which most maps fail to incorporate.
Obviously my use of word 'skill' is not that clear, as there are many maps that require much skill to complete. But it's achieving this without the many caveats that piss me off, which to me make a good map.
Now onto my dislikes (much easier to recall lol:)
Long Maps: This allows mappers to think they're creating a challenge by putting a very difficult section at the end of a long map. Just why? Some nolifers seem to accept or even enjoy this, perhaps to proclaim they've capped a zOMG uber-rated map....does the mapper really deserve this?
Luck: Yes we all know those booby traps, and again they might be funny 30 secs into a map, less so after 3 minutes. Or when you are given a choice with very little chance of guessing correctly and then die...
Sadism: This covers most things tbh...from luck dodges w/ no return/death to those sections which are very difficult AND repetitive with no enjoyment.
Hmm I wonder which prolific mapper incorporates the above traits on a regular basis....
A final mention is Bad Flow:
This is very irritating on short maps, making it impossible to rush for fun with rivals in a lobby. Yes yes BT3...but sometimes you want to compete directly, not against a sterile leaderboard. However bad flow depends on the context too, it doesn't make me dislike the map itself. Noobland has terrible flow, but requires simple but effective skill to rush and is good for BT3.
...so yessss I like any map that has none of my dislikes, but is varied, somewhat complex but it must be intelligible....and finally GREAT TO RUSH
