yeh, pretty much any laptop you can buy in 2008 (if you don't want to game on it) is more than enough. Maybe just buy the cheapest ^^

Rofl, if your only gonna use it for surfing and downloading some things, i rly rly surgest to buy the cheapest with nice resolutions. but laptops aare soo expensivee

If you are really only using it for browsing/download/mail etc it is overkill - too good, but the extra performance won't hurt . If you really use Vista 2gb works smoother than 1, with XP you wouldn't need that. If you don't actually travel with it you also can consider a larger model/screen/keyboard.

yer vista itself uses 1 gig RAM. Which sucks quite hard. XP doesn't need that amount of RAM.
besides vista is shite anyways. It formated all my discs without me asking for it :d
