Windows XP is the best for UT , UT was made for Windows XP.
Windows 7 is a pile of shit for UT since the mouse is broken on Windows 7.
I use Windows 7 too play BunnyTrack , but for Instagib or Normal Weapons I switch to Windows XP.
I have Dual Boot Windows XP and Windows 7.
Soon I will also Quad Boot , I will add FreeBsD and Windows 8.

I don't think UT was made for XP, as UT was released in '99 and XP is from 2001. For me UT works perfectly fine on Win7.

I've used 7 for several years and never had a 'mouse is broken' issue. If worst comes to worst, you can also always run the executable in XP compatibility mode. I couldn't see any plausible reason you would want to run XP over 7 today unless your PC was somewhat old and or low-range in specs. And avoid Windows 8, that's gonna take at least a year to become anywhere near usable.

Windows 8 is horrible for PC's. It is optimized for touch screen interfaces and therefore I wouldn't recommend using Windows 8 for anything PC related. But most PC's these days will come with 8 pre-loaded, so as soon as you get it, get your completely legit Windows 7 disk and format/install it instead.

sounds quite straight forward,but has anyone brought a pc and converted windows 8 to 7 and got U.T. to work sucsessfully,cus i really don't want to spend ex amount on a pc and cant get U.T to work or maybe just go for windows 7

i use w7 and it works perfectly for last 3 years. was on xp for years. about the mouse problem, well u have mouse lag fix for it google some
