Does anyone play UT2k4 and UT3?

I noticed I bought the unreal pack a while ago on steam and i am installing these 2 games, anyone feels like playing sometime?

I have UT2004 and play it more or less almost every day going from iCTF/iTDM to TAM or DUEL.
About UT3, it barely got played nowadays. Kind of a shame as it isn't a bad game after all, but it was so buggy when it got released, a lot of people went back to '99 or 2004 just because of this. Even a big patch didn't solve most of the bugs Sad

Hi,
I played UT 2004 for a bit. It is great game with wide strategies. For example there are a lot of vehicles, missions, new type of a single player tournament and a lot more. I even downloaded a few maps, especially from Assault gametype. There are some brilliant maps in UT2k4 and yeah, when I'm writing about this game, memories are comming back to my mind....
However whilst playing online, it feels terribad. It's hard to play really pro, because in a big " empty " rooms, you cannot accurate correctly to kill someone, especially when everyone is moving and avoiding shots hardly.
There is also BunnyTrack mod, I tried one map but, sorry, not my thing.
In fact, BT in UT2004 sucks.
Since long time I haven't played it.
And about UT3: Didnt know about bugs, havent played game so cannot write anything about it at all.

When you were talking about big empty rooms, do you mean the Assault gametype then? There are indeed a few big maps in this mod, so for iCTF for example, but these maps are made to play at least 8v8 and are not suitable for official games for example. UT2004 is even easier to aim then in UT99, that's from my point of view. I don't really have an explanation for it, maybe the better netcode UT2004 is using or the gameplay which is a little bit slower then in UT99. I would say, it's worth trying out this game again. We don't have much active insta public left anymore, but a lot of TAM games got played (some kind of team last man standing) and lot's of duel games and tournaments.

I agree with you pawel that BT sucks in UT2004 and this is caused by the double dodge and jump I think which makes it more complex. And the maps are just a joke there. I've seen some youtube vids of easy maps, and I couldn't stop laughing with the poor map layout/textures,... . My German friend was going to set up a BT server again for me, but so far he didn't found some spare time to set one up. Hopefully soon we have a BT server again to troll a bit on Very Happy

And UT3 is really really really buggy. Falling through floor, getting stuck, instagib disappearing, desktop crashes,... I have played only one UT3 cup on CB, but it was a pain in the ass to start a game. I even couldn't demorec there cause when I did it and I had to run upstairs, it looked like I was holding duck... but once it's working properly, then it's a beautiful game which feels almost the same as UT9.
Worth mentioning that this game got developed in first place to promote the UT3 engine. They have put a lot of work into the Warfare gametype for example compared with the other modes which is a shame. They focused so much on this aspect of the game together with graphics so this game was more or less a showcase of how powerful the UT3 engine was. Later one, with bringing out patches, a lot bugs/thingies got fixed but after all it's still a bit broken and this is one of the main reason why UT3 never became popular.

Played it a lot at lan parties etc

Assault is really active, we even have a pug channel for it and a few pugs got played every week. I have never tried it myself but from what I've heard it's really fun and tense!

ictf in 2k4 was fun Very Happy

i played 3 cb cups and all 3 were fun. but then again in all 3 cups we had a good team and made it to the bronze finals twice and gold final once. The only thing that kept me playing were my team mates. really enjoyed hanging with them on ts. ui2 glop glop Very Happy

Not saying that the game sucked but it never really got me into it. 2k4 is fun but ut99 will always be my favourite.

I played ut3 too but never competitive for clans. was way too buggy back then Smile

same as u i bought the pack and wanted to play them online Wink
