Epic work on that map Roel, for the negative, 3 purely annoying dodges in total on the map that makes it a bit less pleasant to play than it should be (imo) Smile

Finally capped this after a rather long sesh. Loved every part, only thing I can say is that I feel like the fall part is a bit late in the map. Imo it's an R8 though! Great job.

I love it, everything about the map is brilliant. The obstacles, the textures, flow, sound and the tiny details. I think you've topped everything that NuLL has ever made, it's amazing how far you've come in mapping Roel; from MMI to this. Map is extremely rewarding to cap because of the beautiful end. Map is definitely my new favorite BT map; its just a shame you made me look like a noob mapper now =(

I got no lag here either, textures are fine I think. Maybe some of the sounds need slightly less radius? (not sure if this causes lag).....Still I think this map is brilliant. Obsticals are nicely original and may sometimes be mysteriously laid out but you can figure things out. Problem Solving Skills.

No lag here, so no reason for a version 2 from my side...

The really impressing thing is that I spent around an hour on capping the map, haven't been that addicted to a map and BT in general for a loooooooong time. So my respect and deepest thanks for giving me 'this' feeling again Smile

BTW, nice little secrets with the 5 radios in it, gave the map "the icing on the cake" Very Happy

There is a grapple hook in BT-TechDiff afaik. Also, I read somewhere it is possible to pick up decoration in UT, but for that you shouldn't be holding a weapon. It was never my intention to transfer the gameplay of portal to UT, I just wanted to keep it BT.

I have had more reports on lag, My biggest guess it is due to all the 512x512 textures of Aperture.utx. I think I'm gonna re-make the texture pack with 256x256 textures and completely retexture the map, see if that makes a difference, I don't really see another option at the moment.

Here comes another Dewsickle comment, beware.

First of all the look of the map is simply outstanding, along with the sounds from Portal as well. I got the good feel of somewhat being involved in Portal whilst having UT open, and I liked it.
The map lags like crap for be but I've no included it in any of my criticism.
Only things I'm not really liking/unsure about is the obstacles are pretty lame, not really a unique feel to a map. So having the obstacles like that and a map looking as great as that puts it waaaay out of proportion for me.
Never the less it is one of the best looking, well made maps I've seen in a long while.

Just a pointer, in US combogib servers there's a grapple hook, if you could convert that and not having a weapon with shoot obstacles it would be outstanding. Shooting didn't happen in Portal 2, so that's also why I didn't really like it more than what I should.
Should definitely try it out, if someone can make a grapple hook only able to get hold of the cubes. Very Happy

I really dig this map, nice job. The sounds seem to be a bit out of control in pockets, but I have found that in my maps too. sounds leak in sometimes where you do not want them. but the whole map is really cool. I like the mystery/problem solving aspect. Sometimes the pictures help but sometimes you just have to figure it out yourself. Makes you think more than other maps. All the custom content too, again nice job. What did you use for the box spawner with the button? I might have to grab that.... I have been trying unsuccessfully to make that kind of thing with pressure pad traps (like in diablo2) for coastal-temple][ (just started it got a long way before it is done). Also I think that might solve my problem with triggered monster respawns in another map I am making and will hopefully finish mid next month.

A really great map! loved it so much.
only one thing bothered me- the difficult of the obstacles. u can see a big room with some lifts and buttons and stuff, and u just need to push them to activate the elevator instead of some sequence or anything harder if u understand what i mean Smile

first of all, great map, i love the little secrets, they look just like the ones from portal!

are you thinking about making another portal-stylish map?

I noticed massive frame drops when you shoot on certain spots tho (if i look at em, not shooting, my framerate is stable), no idea why that happens

New Roel maps always bring UT to a higher level. Incredible eyecandy man, plays well too. Sometimes it's a little tricky and I'm not a huge fan of the shooting "box" part, but the overall flow is fine. Also, nice terrain at the end.
