I've written both you and FrancoRapeo or whatever his name is both a book on how to make a decent map, even though my attempts at making maps is:
1) Complexity - to troll the entire community with a great skill based map
2) Simplicity - to steal a room from LameShit and make it it's own rush map because we found it fun
I criticize you because your maps are TERRIBLE. I'm not the type of person who's going to sit here and praise you and get down on my knees for you for making some half arsed map. Like honestly, even someone like myself who made Complexity, purely as a troll, spent a long time trying to get really nice lighting in my map, and to make it at least try and look good.
Here it just looks like you've gone, FUCK IT, LIGHT BRIGHTNESS 256, GOOD ENOUGH. Followed by putting in lava that actually overlaps the left platform in the spawn room which doesn't actually kill (I wish lava in real life was like that). There's nothing positive I can say about this map, walking into half the rooms I feel like I'm walking into Wembley stadium and running from one side to the other, and the other half of the rooms are just boring.
Please don't make 'difficult' maps, at least until you can actually make 'good' maps. I can't wait to see what your definition of a difficult map is.
In b4 luck dodges, bouncing and 7300 loop movers all going in 364 different directions across the map.

| Rapchilenoperra, The best thing you could be doing is googling and finding tutorials for UnrealED online. there are(or atleast were) plenty around.
Read through the Maps and mapping section here on I4Games..... Bt-Match.net i think is dead but still plenty of threads through out the mapping section. UT99.org has less about BT but again heaps of mapping threads.
Use UnrealEd to look through other peoples maps and pull them apart, look at the structure and how its placed together. Even checking the standard maps from UT99 are a good way to familiarize yourself with basic map structure.
Honestly and this is just my opinion but huge 1280x2560x2560 rooms aren't at all entertaining to play or look at. Keep them smaller unless you're going for an atmospheric look or an outside area. Remember the void in ued is a giant solid structure and you are taking chunks out to create rooms/architecture.
Also look at old buildings for ideas..... But keep your rooms simple when learning.
Heres a 5 min sketch to give you an idea on how simple it can be, but by putting pillars on the side of the wall take away from the boring cube look.

| I think you're missing the point. We want *good* maps, notice the emphasis on the word good. Let me help you out on this one, GOOD maps. See what I did there?
This doesn't even get a 0/10 from me, maybe -1 if you're lucky. The second room is el-retardo with the long wall dodges, especially the last one. The third rooms little spikes go invisible, the fourth room with the oversized movers that is so pointless that I could run through that room with my eyes closed and 9/10 still survive. The flag part is also retarded because I'm quite sure you were going for a rush map here, in which case it's not really the greatest idea to put a loop mover at the end of the map which makes your time ± 1 second on a <60 second map. I'll spell out the maths for you since you don't seem so bright:
My current time of 48.0 would change to a 49.0 with bad mover timing, which is a 2% buffer on someones time on the map because of a completely irrelevant loop mover.
Everyone who commented here has the right idea, and when someone like LoSaH has the right idea, then it MUST be bad.
Lighting 0/10
Architecture -4/10
Difficulty 5/10 if you don't know what to do in the spike room, 0/10 if you know what to do there

| After I passed second room after 100 tries, I gave up. Next room seemed broken for me as I only could see lava. Unfortunately I couldn't use the shortcut.
Will never ever try this "map" again. |
