If your bandwidth can't handle it, reduce it. Otherwise, 10000 is the best.

Not sure if its bandwidth probs.Typical dl for me 2300KB/s will have to have a word with virginmedia see if it is thier end a lot of us gamers are getting lag problems at the moment in the uk even given up on xbox live anyway will have to try and reduce netspeed a couple of times to see which one is the best for me

Even if im capped by virginmedia at peaktimes i still got 5meg download and 768KB/s up more than enough for gaming.Oh well cant wait till next year I will have 50meg connection vith virginmedia hopefully it will stop the lag but i don't think i`ll hold my breath lol

I'm on 20MB atm too Missy and will also be on the 50MB when that gets rolled out.
Things are perfectly fine for me capped or not. Today has been a tiny bit laggy but that has been the server with everyone getting a bit of a high ping and server dropping out quite a few times too (grmph.. my cap:().
My netspeed is now at 10000 I think and working fine. I used to always need to have 2500 to get a good ping. Reason for that was my Graphics card and a few other things on my PC rather than the connection itself... THough spanking my mom to ask me before she downloads worked a treat, too!

There could be some other reason why your speed lagging now. Its nature that if the connection is slow, the page redirects only after a several clicks.
Try clearing cookies, browser history and cache, avoid running electronic devices at once, upgrade your modem or router to a newer model and have a periodic check in your modem ventilation
Connecting to your master socket will give you the best possible speed as this is where the broadband is strongest. after this check your speed here http://www.scanmyspeed.com/ and update me..

I'm curious, why posts like this should be blocked? There isn't any rule which says should those threads be cancelled or w/e.

Because no one from 5 years ago is still trying to work out what netspeed is optimal for them. And instead you get people like this burfy guy who has bumped about 10x 4+ year old threads in the past 3 days.
The information in this thread is outdated because of evolution, and if people want to ask a question regarding this they can just make a new thread which will be filled with relevant responses for this decade.
