K... this is a bit late, but for all of you that didnt know it, Medic has put on a sh*tload of new and not so new (those missing since the server move) maps on the mapvote selection. Soooo... nows the time to stop voting the same maps all the time and tryout something new... just don't vote the new maps off before trying them out a time or two, this gives everyone a chance to see how the maps are built and could be played. I've had the chance to play a couple of the newer ones and must say that they were really nice... just give them a try Cool

Thanx again Medic, it's refreshingly cool to play something new for a change Very Happy

Yeah, I noticed it too. I enjoyed Blaffende Kikker and specced VaMe. I try to vote the newer maps, but the majority votes mostly otherwise. But still, if you can play 30 of the same old maps all the time. It's quite a variety. Smile

I even saw Duku around here. Don't like the map, but on i4G I had some fun with it. Smile

Haven't seen all the maps in the list yet. The 1 minute vote.... Wink

I tried to play CTF-RUality[fix] (a new map on the server) just now, but something went wrong. And I wasn't the only one. (only 2/3 players made it to server.) First it crashed on the wrong credits.utx version, so I removed the one I had. Than it crashed again on something called credits.base. It's not a bug, but it sure isn't correct either.

can you have a look at using Duku_CE on the server. Its basically the same with more routes added, should compliment the way the relics are implemented on server

CTF-Asteroid has a sky bug

Played this map yesterday and it seemed pretty fun, only problem was the sky that is messed up wich makes it pretty hard on the eyes to play. I searched around and it seemed that is not a problem with all videocards, except for TNT ones and some others.

Thought I had found a solution by scaling the main substracted room a bit so it wouldn't be in collision with the terrain anymore, it worked but when I played it again later it was messed up again...still the solution might be there.

so, any UT doctors that want to take it on and see if they can fix it?

Seems like a fun map with lots of routes and ways to suprise the EF Twisted Evil

That was the intention.
This slows down the defenders coming back from the second spawn room and that also slows down easy escape from the upper side which would be otherwise a lot shorter than going via the on the lower side.
I have spectated too and I found the gameplay was exactly as I planned. Now maybe some players won't like the stairs but that's part of the gameplay.

I would like to add some players made remarks JUST AFTER RESPAWN like "this map sucks" or other stupid things to say without even trying a map. That's not the attitude I expect. If you look at what's played on other servers, you'll find that 80% of the maps played have the "andAction" design and the rest is not really suitable for instagib. That's what really "sucks" IMHO.
I was really chocked by that attitude and that does not encourage me to find or create new maps for iCTF.
That reminds me a long time ago when I started iCTF servers and players would only play Coret and Gauntlet 5 vs 5. That led me to find or help design some of the classic maps that are always voted. Players should be happy to see new maps even if I agree some are less good, objectively this one is good. Just stop voting for the other maps all the time.
Let me know if I still need to care about adding new maps on the iCTF server because I am very doubtful about it at the time being.

I'm happy to see new maps, but n/o, most of them are really crappy and as you mentioned on other servers, these are imo also ver andaction-like.
I don't say you're not doing a good job, but maybe you could involve more people in valuing the maps.
There are e.g. 3 versions of woot... when you say this is a 7*7 server I don't really understand why there would be one version at all.
CTF-Valkon is not in the list, although it's much fewer spamming than many, many, MANY maps in the list.

A comment on CTF-WallJump2, I've played it with bots once to test it. It's quite impossible to escape high, that "hand made" tunnel is way too buggy to take 3 step without flying around back to the beginning.

And why can't all stantard CTF maps be in the list? I still think that the creators of the game knew most of its possibilities, about mapping and optimizing the gameplay.
NO offence towards the makers of the new maps. The more you make, the better you get. But the best maps are imho still standard maps (and a few custom mades like Scandinavium and other maps I can't really think of atm ;x).

*afaik Scandinavium is on server, I asked that once.
*Besides: Valkon is a nice choice, but also rather preferred with less ppl on server. 7-7 would be rather crowdy.

*Noonraid would still be a nice 7-7 map (but CN curses again when he reads this, because i posted this 4 times already.) Smile
Really love to see noonraid on server, it has 3 entrances to base, and is nice to play 5-5 but i think ideal 7-7.

*Maelstrom: i agree with CN that it's tricky because it only has one flag entrance (compared to niven, which is frequently played)

Krig, do you have any nice ideas from old telenet server? Maps that were frequently played?

I remember there was a nice (NW) map on the server about 4-5 years ago, one that was pretty large (maybe too large for 5*5). I don't remember the name though and I know Cita once told me but I can't find it ;x
That would be a nice one for this server ^^
