I also think that would not work out as thought.
For instance, what if someone join a server with a friend to play together and get separated to diff servers etc.
And i also tend to change my playnick depending on my mental state. ;P
I would vote for the (forum)-members-only-passworded-server.
BTW, lo everyone.

This one is more fair I think. |
I think that's a good idea! Because the 'normal' server is still open for everyone, so all the problems everybody talked about here, are directly been solved!
When you change your name: just stay on the 'normal' server!
When you come to the server with a friend to play with/against him: just stay on the 'normal' server!
==> Personally I would set the limit to 55%, that's my effi! <==
Medic? Think they are right about the effi (you have less effi when you're an attacker) wouldn't you rather rate by points? If you have an avarage of 40 on iCTF i4games server, you can go to the hard server.
Isn't that a better idea? Don't know, just try to help ya!

I think it's rather a good idea but as Jason said I don't see how it will be realize and explain to some players who never take a look at this forums...
...still many players (some news and others) don't understand how to activate bdbmapvote or kick during games...
But I don't want to discourage you . solution #2 with two levels have my pref.

This kind of server would be private anyway, which means players have to register via the website, so I suppose they will notice the forum.

*clearing throat for the ultimate 'YODA-voice'*
"Hmmmnnzz.. bad idea it it is not I think"
"Use the force we should"
"Two servers be there shall"
"Lots of practise to keep above 60 effi I must"
"Not drop down below I may"
Oki.. on a more serious note (as if I were capable of that),
Does this go for BOTH servers? Or only CTF?
Or did I miss something along the way and someone already
answered that??
Anywayz... Y'all rock.

good idea to create more servers
bad idea to use skincolor to decide who goes where ... did i say efficiency ... thought so
anyway, how are noobs going to learn to play well if theyre surrounded by peeps that suck as bad as they do?
another point is that you could end up being first game after game (CTF and TDM) but still be convicted to the easy server because of your efficiency
and ive seen players with mediocre efficiency cap e few flags in a game anyway, so where are you going to put these?
thougt for food, this ...

Good point there Tipper mate.
I mean.. at some point i kicked butt of some >67% guyz and GOT my butt kicked really hard by some <60%, so there's a good point in NEVER under-estimating those with not so huge efficiency, and never OVER-estimating those with 60 or higher.
Perhaps the idea should be thought through carefully indeed, although I have no doubt in the admins doing some hard thinking on this one..

Not so sure about having servers based on skill. I think it would encourage players to be more defensive to improve their efficiency, which is surely something to be avoided.
Just a thought here, rather than base access to a server on efficiency how about doing it on loyalty? By this I mean the players who spend the most hours on the server(s) as these are the guys supporting i4games the most. My feeling is that these players are the ones least likely to be regarded as lamers. I have no idea whether something like this is possible, or even what qualifying time would be put on it. Anyway, just something to think about maybe.

Hi Medic,
I see the point of this and agree to some extent but....
I don't consider myself a great player but I can generally hold my own, from time to time, in a game full of good players but my eff is the worst in the top 20 on CTF. I also have a low amount of frags (compared to others) but my score puts me hovering in the top 5. The reason for this is I play it as CTF. i.e. I go for the flag. My caps and flag gets etc. are the highest on the server. The reason I get fragged so much is that I always go for the flag. This lowers my eff. I am pretty sure that if I decided to hang around my base and defend only, my eff. would get higher but I wouldn't want to do this. I do consider myself good enough to play with the top players of the server but my eff. wouldn't allow this. Is there anything that can be done about that?
Also I would like to say that this is a great server with some great people. (Gizmo....its always fun to be on with u mate )[/u]

hmmz if i look at all the replys the most tactic players would not agree with this the most active fraggers agree with this simple all hangs about that effi!
and if u put the effi on the hard server on 60 there will be only 82 players of the more then 3000 on this server...and those are not the often good players u will face the most of the time in the server...check out in ranking click effi and u will see the ranking of 1 to 82 they have 60 ore higher every one else under 60

Thanks for the feedback everyone! (You can continue btw )
This idea is not very good I admit, for a couple of reasons you mentioned.
1. Determining the skills of someone cannot be done that easily. The eff. is not very representative of the skills, and in CTF it's different as in TDM for instance. And the player who play the most are not necessarily the best or the fairest.
2. We all need stronger players to fight against to get better. My first idea was not good at all in this case, because all the newbies would play together. The second version was better in that way, but players would want to improve their eff. by defending more, etc. as it has been said too.
3. Doing this for every type of game would be too much hassle and too expensive.
But I don't despair, I have another idea to be sure to have almost always good games on our future private servers.

A bit late but...
I agree with G3Zo_O!
I am not a GoOd player, i don't play often, my effi suck and i really don't care.
But i play fair and not so bad, i always cover my teams mates and cap not so bad... but i wouldn't play with the one i like... Too bad.
If you do 2 or 3 servers, lets allow everyone to go on which server he wants...
He suck too much, some Servers ads could informe that an other server is up for himl.
He suck but wants to improve... Let him go to the L33t serveur. As soon as he's fed up with being fragged all the time, To the other server...

Ooops,
Last reflexion...
If you put 14 people with More than 60% effi on the same server.
Will their effi stay @ more than 60%
It's impossible no ?
